Prayer Service for Hope and Perseverance, Peace, and Justice in Ukraine

His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk led a Prayer Service for Hope and Perseverance, Peace, and Justice in Ukraine with Ukrainian Catholic Bishops of the United States: Metropolitan-Archbishop Borys Gudziak, Bishop Venedykt Aleksiychuk, Bishop Paul Chomnycky and Bishop Bohdan Danylo. They commemorated the solemn third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Following the service, there was a reception and an opportunity to have met Prayer Service for Hope and Perseverance, Peace, and Justice in Ukraine

    CUCS Welcomes Ukrainian Junior Fellows at 2025 Open House

      The Bishop Basil H. Losten Center for Ukrainian Church Studies had an “Open House”  on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 from 5-6:30 PM EST at the Happel Room in Caldwell Hall. It featured an evening of fellowship and explanation of exciting events to come.     Catholic University Honors Bishop Basil H. Losten with Memorial Panel and Liturgy

    Our benefactor and our namesake +Bishop Basil H. Losten entered into eternity on September 15, 2024. We remembered +Bishop Basil H. Losten, on November 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM EST with an academic panel discussion in Hannan Hall (room 108), at The Catholic University of America.  Featured speakers were: CUA President Dr. Peter K.     “Royal Patronage and Scribal Activity in Armenian Cicilia”

    On October 28, 2024, ISEC hosted Jesse Arlen (Director of the Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America—Eastern), and a research fellow at the Orthodox Christian Studies Center of Fordham University, who led a seminar on the topic of royal patronage and scribal activity in Armenian Cicilia.

    Fr. Morozowich Contributes to Rome Conference on Metropolitan Rutsky and Liturgical Reform

    International Conference “Reforming after Trent: the Kyivan Metropolitan Yosyf Veliamyn-Rutsky (1613–1637)” took place on October 16-17, 2024 in Rome, Italy. The Bishop Basil H. Losten Center for Ukrainian Church Studies was a co-sponsor of this event.  Father Mark made welcome remarks, was a moderator for a panel,  and presented his paper titled:  “Metropolitan Yosyf Veliamyn-Rutsky Fr.     Archbishop Elpidophoros Visits CUA, Delivers Lecture on the Council of Nicaea

    On September 19, 2024, ISEC hosted His Eminence, Archbishop Elpidophoros, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, under the Ecumenical Patriarchate, at the Catholic University of America. His Eminence met with the university president, as well as the dean and faculty of the School of Theology and Religious Studies.
