Upcoming 2026 conference to explore liturgies of the Church of Antioch

A conference on the “Liturgies of the Church of Antioch” is currently being planned for the fall of 2026 (tentative depending on funding).

    Fr. Morozowich Contributes to Rome Conference on Metropolitan Rutsky and Liturgical Reform

    International Conference “Reforming after Trent: the Kyivan Metropolitan Yosyf Veliamyn-Rutsky (1613–1637)” took place on October 16-17, 2024 in Rome, Italy. The Bishop Basil H. Losten Center for Ukrainian Church Studies was a co-sponsor of this event.  Father Mark made welcome remarks, was a moderator for a panel,  and presented his paper titled:  “Metropolitan Yosyf Veliamyn-Rutsky Fr. Morozowich Contributes to Rome Conference on Metropolitan Rutsky and Liturgical Reform

    Archbishop Elpidophoros Visits CUA, Delivers Lecture on the Council of Nicaea

    On September 19, 2024, ISEC hosted His Eminence, Archbishop Elpidophoros, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, under the Ecumenical Patriarchate, at the Catholic University of America. His Eminence met with the university president, as well as the dean and faculty of the School of Theology and Religious Studies.     Fr. Morozowich Teaches Course on Ukraine’s Religious and Historical Journey

    Father Mark taught a course called “Ukraine: History, Liturgy and Churches Then and Now” which combined history, theology, and liturgy when addressing Ukraine. His introductory course was offered simultaneously at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and provided  the learner with the fundamentals for understanding Ukraine in light of its religious and historical identity.     ISEC Director Fr. Alexopoulos elected President of the Society for Oriental Liturgy

    From May 27-30, 2024, ISEC hosted the Ninth International Congress of the Society of Oriental Liturgy. More than 50 specialists on Eastern Christian Liturgies from all over the world came to The Catholic University of America and presented their current research. Fr. Stefanos Alexopoulos, the Director of ISEC, was elected President of the Society for ISEC Director Fr. Alexopoulos elected President of the Society for Oriental Liturgy

    Fr. Morozowich Presents on Liturgical Exchange at Rome Ecumenical Conference

     Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest Dr. Mark Morozowich delivered a paper titled “Liturgical Exchange and Influence Between the Eastern Catholic Churches and Orthodox Churches in the USA” at a second conference in Rome, immediately following the St. Josaphat Conference dealing with ecumenism.  This conference was titled “Eastern Catholics’ Ecumenical Vision in Dialogue with the Orthodox” and included many well-known voices from Fr. Morozowich Presents on Liturgical Exchange at Rome Ecumenical Conference

    Father Mark Morozowich elevated to the Rank of Mitred Protopresbyter

    On May 10, 2023 there was a ceremony conferring the ecclesiastical honor and dignity of Mitred Archpriest upon the Very Reverend Doctor Mark Myron Morozowich during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Ukrainian National Shrine of the Holy Family, 4250 Harewood Road NE, Washington, DC 20017.

    Fr. Alexopoulos participates in Greek Embassy symposium

    Fr. Stefanos Alexopoulos participated in an online symposium organized by the educational office of the Greek Embassy exploring Byzantium’s cultural heritage. His presentation was titled: “The Byzantine Liturgical Tradition and Modern Challenges.” Over 75 Greek educators teaching for the Greek Ministry of Education attended.
